Configure the scanner for your computer (HID-setting)
If you want to use your scanner to, for example, add barcodes to your products in Backoffice you will first have to configure it to the HID-setting. When you change the setting on the scanner it will no longer be able to be connected to the iPad. But don't worry, you can easily reconfigure the scanner to the iOS-setting once you're finished using the scanner on your computer (see next section).
- Start the scanner by holding down the small button until you hear a beep.
- Release the scanner by holding down the large and small button simultaneously until you hear three beeps.
- Start the scanner by holding down the small button until you hear a beep.
- Configure the scanner by scanning the barcode below. Three beeps will confirm that the setting was properly applied.
- Open Bluetooth settings on your computer.
- Connect to Socket CHS/7xi.
Configure the scanner for iPad (iOS-setting)
If you have received a new scanner, or if you have previously connected it to your computer, you will need to configure it to the iOS-setting to be able to use it with the cash register. Follow the steps below:
- Start the scanner by holding down the small button until you hear a beep.
- Release the scanner by holding down the large and small button simultaneously until you hear three beeps.
- Start the scanner by holding down the small button until you hear a beep.
- Configure the scanner by scanning the barcode below. Three beeps will confirm that the setting was properly applied.
- Open Settings on your iPad and tap Bluetooth.
- If the Socket device is already connected, tap the (i)-icon and then "Forget this device"
- Turn Bluetooth off and on to do a new search for devices. Wait until Socket appears in the list.
- Tap Socket.
- Finished! Try scanning an item.
Disable the automatic shut down timer
By default, your scanner will automatically power off after a certain period of inactivity. If you want to you can disable this function. For the 1D scanner, follow the steps below. Configuring the scanner this way will result in no automatic shut down.

- Start the scanner by holding down the small button until you hear a beep.
- Release the scanner by holding down the large and small button simultaneously until you hear three beeps.
- Start the scanner by holding down the small button until you hear a beep.
- Configure the scanner by scanning the barcode below.
- Open Settings on your iPad and tap Bluetooth.
- Turn Bluetooth off and on to do a new search for devices. Wait until Socket appears in the list.
- Tap Socket to connect to it.
Since the scanner no longer will automatically power off, it's important to either turn it off manually or always keep it charged. Also note that the 1D scanner will need to have its batteries replaced after long periods of use.
2D Scanner
- Start the scanner by holding down the small button until you hear a beep.
- Release the scanner by holding down the large and small button simultaneously until you hear three beeps.
- Start the scanner by holding down the small button until you hear a beep.
- Scan the QR-codes below.
- Open Settings on your iPad and tap Bluetooth.
- Turn Bluetooth off and on to do a new search for devices. Wait until Socket 7xi appears in the list.
- Tap Socket 7xi to connect it.
- Try scanning an item.
Since the scanner no longer will automatically power off, it's important to either turn it off manually or always keep it charged
