Klarna's in-store service is called KP (Klarna Payment) and is available on several markets: Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, UK and USA.
You can set up Klarna Profiles (Profile ID) and use separate profiles for ’normal POS’ and self-checkout.
There are also different regional accounts based on your stores’ location. Therefore, it’s possible to choose the region you’re in, Europe, US or Asia.
If you want to test Klarna in your Sandbox environment before going live, you need to add ’test:’ prior to your username.
Once you have setup an account at Klarna, make sure that your MID's are grouped at Klarna - contact Klarna at email@example.com for more information.
Go to Settings > Klarna.
Here you will be presented with the settings as shown in the image below:
The User Name and Password is always supplied by Klarna, and this is where you will enter the credentials you received from them.
Profile - Choose how to initiate the transaction from the regular POS
Profile - Self Checkout - Choose how to initiate the transaction from your self checkout registers
Webshop - Checkout V3 - Enter the credentials you received from Klarna and pick the market you are selling in.
Add payment method
Once you have added the above information you will also need to add a payment option to use in the Sitoo POS app. If you have an existing Klarna payment option you can easily edit that one and replace the method from "V2 Legacy" to "Klarna".
To add a Klarna payment option do the following:
Go to Settings > POS - Payments Options. Click +. Enter a name for the payment option, for example "Klarna". Click Payment Method and choose "Klarna". Make sure not to choose "Klarna (legacy v2)". Click save.
To edit an existing Klarna payment option do the following:
Go to Settings > POS - Payments Options. Click the pen and paper icon to the left of the existing Klarna payment option. Click the Payment Method dropdown menu (currently showing "Klarna (legacy v2") and change it to "Klarna". Click save.
Klarna Payment is only possible as a single payment option and it is therefore not possible to split Klarna with other payment types such as cash or card.
You can decide whether to display QR, SMS or Email first. The customer either scans or enters the required information and is then re-directed to the Klarna payment site to complete the transaction.
To perform a return with Klarna, it is important that you perform a return from the original receipt. This means you have to either scan the barcode of the original receipt or search in the POS to find the customers receipt. This is because the return needs to be validated through Klarna. It is also not possible to do a return and a purchase on the same receipt. If the customer wants to return one item and purchase another, these transactions need to be done separately.
When performing a return with Klarna, unlike when you pay with Klarna, there won’t be pop-up dialogue and the return is completed immediately.
Buy Online Return In Store
Access external orders (e.g. online orders) through the POS. Please note that for the external orders to be accessible in the POS they have to first be imported to Sitoo Backoffice.
Make validated returns on orders from your E-commerce. Import E-commerce orders with an External ID and additional information in the payment section to be able to search for the order in POS.
If you are using Klarna as checkout in the E-commerce then you are able to import the orders with additional data to directly update the invoice in Klarna.
