Sitoo Web

Fonts

The best way to manage fonts in Sitoo Web is to use Styles. This will keep the website's fomatting consistent and make sure that headings are optimized for the search engines.

Web-safe Fonts

Only a few fonts will look the same on all computers and in all browsers in the world. These fonts are often referred to as "web-safe fonts":

Arial

Georgia

Trebuchet MS

Verdana

Courier New

Webdings

Times New Roman

Comic Sans MS

Impact

The idea of the Sitoo Web font management is to use Styles. In the styles, you can define a primary font to be shown if possible and then a list of alternative fonts to use if the primary option is not available. It is also recommended to provide a font family as a last fallback.

Font Family

When selecting a font, you can either set these as above; one primary option to be shown if available, and after this a list of alternative fonts if the primary font is not available - or you can select a font family.

In the first case, the visitor on the site needs to have the font (or one of the fonts) installed on their computer to be able to view the text using that font. If you use a font family instead, you instruct the browser to decide which font to use, but you know that the font will be in the same font family. The font families supported in CSS are shown below toghether with a sample of the standard Windows font.

Note

When a font family is used on the web, it is up to the browser to decide which font is standard in the different families. Check the browser settings for more information about which settings apply to your browser configuration.
